The thinking (wo)man’s punk poet, James Domestic, has been away from the stage for the past couple of months, but he’s been far from idle! He’s made appearances on BBC 3 Counties Radio, and BBC Essex, and hot on the heels of his Domesticated Volume 3 book for Earth Island, he’s also had a small – but perfectly formed – book out via his own Pie ‘N’ Earring Press imprint, titled That’s Not Poetry!.
James has a bunch of gigs in diary for 2025 already, including dates in Peterborough, Sudbury, Trimley-St-Mary, Colchester, Nottingham, Bury St Edmunds, Clacton-on-Sea, and Stowmarket. His first date of the year is at Sudbury Arts Centre on 13th March with BAFTA, and Emmy, award winning comedy writer, Andy Riley. Andy’s TV credits include Big Train, Smack The Pony, Armstrong and Miller, Black Books, Spitting Image, The Armando Iannucci Show amongst others, and he’s also the creator, author and artist of the best-selling series of Bunny Suicides cartoon books (thus far selling around one and a half million copies). With Andy and James Domestic on the same stage you know you’re going to be in for a great night! Tickets here.
James supports one of the UK’s most beloved performance poets, Luke Wright, for the second time on 9th May, and teams up with author, poet, and actor, Virginia Betts for An Evening With…at The 2 Sisters Arts Centre in Trimley-St-Mary (near Felixstowe) on 23rd May. Tickets are available here.
There’s much more to come from James this year, including another book, called Poets Day Dream, which is a collection of poems, prose and (very) short stories all on the subject of work and school. This will feature some of the poems that have become mainstays of his live set over the past 18 months, such as Guff CV, Phil Don’t Work Here Anymore, and Homework. Crowd pleasers, every one! Book him now while he’s still cheap.
