From the OC to The Valley on 5th and 6th April 2025, It’s going to be a bitchin’ busy weekend for Marla Watson as she promotes her superb photographic history of the US hardcore scene, My Punk Rock Life. She’s going to need to polish up on her L.Ah accent.
Saturday 5th April from 6-9pm is the opening of the ‘Punk OC:’ exhibit at The Fullerton Museum.
Oh what fun we used to have driving all the way from North Hollywood to The Galaxy in Fullerton to see bands on a stage so high you could see right up their noses. Remember the silver tinsel curtains? I photographed so many great bands there and some of those photos will be in the exhibit!
Myself along with fellow friends and photographers @edwardcolver @alisonbraunphoto @dinadouglasspunkphotography @lindaaronowphotography will have photos in the show.
Some of us have dropped off our old cameras we used to shoot punk with.
On April 6th Marla will be in Burbank at Riled Up Boutique on Magnolia Avenue signing books and hopefully catching up with friends, old and new.
Burbank, along with North Hollywood/Studio City and Sun Valley were part of our old stomping ground. It’s the store’s 6th anniversary! Co-owner Karyn Cantor (Classic Hardware) has known me since we were young teenage rink rats at the Laurel Plaza ice skating rink (now NoHo West) and throughout punk rock.
I’ll be there from 2-4pm and at 4pm there is a live performance by The Iron Orchids.
You’ll be able to pick up a copy of Marla Watson’s brilliant HC photo book ‘My Punk Rock Life’ at Riled-Up Boutique and at The Fullerton Museum when the show begins.
