In December of 1983 Marla Watson saw the Subhumans at The 100 Club in London.
Cut to forty years later Marla, author and photographer of 'My Punk Rock Life' and her friend Tim are walking to their car after Punk In Drublic Day 1 last weekend in Portland...
"As we walked past The Twilight Club Tim spotted The Subhumans standing out front. I told them I had seen them at The 100 Club many decades ago and Dick told me there is a picture of him from his hairy days hanging out in the club. I happened to have a copy of my book (My Punk Rock Life) on me so I quickly found the Subhumans page and held it up and said 'Like this?' We had a laugh, except for Trotsky who was pissed there was no picture of him and walked away. Technically I have photos, but he is hiding behind a cymbal. Dick and Bruce were kind enough to take a couple of pics with me."
There's a black and white version of this photo is in Marla Watson's superb book 'My Punk Rock Life' including loads of other great punk bands of this era.

And for Subhumans fans there's also Ian Glasper's excellent 'SILENCE IS NO REACTION: FORTY YEARS OF SUBHUMANS' book, the definitive history of one of the best punk bands of all time.
