As part of the celebrations around the publication of his new book, Poets Day Dream, James Domestic is back gigging again after his customary winter hibernation!
James’ first gig of March is with comedy writing legend, Andy Riley at Sudbury Arts Centre on the 13th for an event called For The Love of Words. If that name doesn’t seem familiar, you probably ARE familiar with Andy Riley’s work. He’s written for such hit comedies as Black Books, Smack The Pony, Spitting Image, Big Train, The Armando Ianucci Show, Harry Enfield, Year of the Rabbit and many more (and has won both a BAFTA and an Emmy for it too!). Joining Andy and James will be the excellent Lorna Mackinnon from Essex (check out her work in Ten Poets Volume Two in the Earth Island store!), and Sue Thompson from Woodbridge, so make sure you get there early. For more info, and tickets, go here.
You will also find James making an appearance at The Two Sisters Arts Centre in Trimley-St-Mary near Felixstowe on the 21st as part of Lady J’s Spring Marvels. Info and tickets here.
Londoners can catch Domestic in Southwark on the 24th as he co-headlines the excellent POW! night at The Roebuck with fellow punk poet, Redeeming Features. It promises to be a great night, and you can grab yourself a ticket here.
James’ final March gig is his semi-regular Word Habit afternoon The Brewery Tap, Sudbury on Sunday the 30th. This time around, he’s joined by Tim Barlow (Hastings), Corinna Edwards-Colledge (Brighton), Virginia Betts (Ipswich), recent Earth Island signee, Leon The Poet (Witham), and Natalie Smith (from Clacton-on-Sea, where James Domestic grew up). Kick-off is at 2pm and there will be some open mic slots available at the end (sign up early though!). It’s free entry, with no ticket required, just come on down to the The Brewery Tap, East Street, Sudbury, CO10 2TP.
You can grab a copy of James’ new book, Poets Day Dream, here, and his recent That’s’ Not Poetry! book here.
