AN UPDATED SECOND edition of Anarcho-Punk: Music and Resistance in London 1977-1988, first published at the end of last year, has just been published by Earth Island Books.
“This second edition of the book includes three brand new chapters,” author David Insurrection explains to The Hippies Now Wear Black.
“There’s Electric Ballroom 03/03/84, which revists the day when Welsh punkers Icons of Filth took to the stage of this celebrated London music venue. Also added is Dickie Dirt’s Warehouse, which tells the story of a former jeans emporium which became an activist hub. Lastly, there’s The Ad-Lib Club which explores the history of the long-lost venue in Kensington.”
“There are also two amended and updated chapters,” Insurrection continues. “Molly’s Café now includes a look at the nearby squatted property Blut Bluts and Kardboard Box and Wood Green Arts Centre.”
“And there a half-a-dozen new photographs that include what has been suggested may be the very first photograph taken of Björk on British soil.”
“Since its initial publication, back in December 2024, the book has been very well received. The first edition sold over 300 copies, and was widely praised by reviewers and pundits alike.”
“I’m hoping that this second edition will do just as well,” he concludes.
