Ian Shipley

Ian Shipley (aka Ian Weird) has been involved with the UK underground punk since the early 1980’s.

He shouted vocals for the Screaming Willies and Nervous Tension and produced the fanzine ‘God Damn Weirdoes’

He was the main man behind D-I-Y punk record label Weird Records.

In 2012, after the bands he fronted called it a day he returned to writing and recording ‘daft punk verse’.

This resulted in a 12” lathe cut record entitled ‘You Can’t Dance Too This’ followed by the CDEP ‘Ten Past Beer O’clock’ and a split 7” record with Birmingham based The Hoors.

Sadly, the proposed poetry album was shelved. However, all his favourite poetries can now be found in this new book ‘Daft Punk Verse and a flick of the Vs’

Ian lived in Morton near Swinderby, Lincolnshire, UK. He worked as a gravedigger. This is his seventh book.

Ian passed away in October 2024. He will be sadly missed.

Titles available by Ian Shipley include:

Tales of a Gravedigger
